Broadband Noise

Michelle - Lead Vocals
Shawn - Guitar, Keyboards
Francois - Drums
Shane - Bass
Tom - Guitar

The covert team known as Broadband Noise was originally assembled for a single mission, The Red Bearing mission. That mission was intended as a suicide run for the members. But with their combined cunning they were able to divert the original plan and became the most elite band even composed.

Before they had assembled each had trained extensively in martial arts and was taught the most erudite subjects by private teachers, although they each came upon these teachings in a different manner.

Red Bearing, the mission that drafted all these members, was a single mission where the members travelled throughout Asia, performing as the Canadian band Broadband Noise.

During one stop in southern Cambodia, the were ordered to invade a Khmer Rouge base and steal all the information inside. In addition, they were to assassinate the faction leader Khieu Pauk. Khien Pauk had began to amass enough nuclear material to construct a device and, he was radical enough to detonate it without the Khmer's leader Ta Mok's permission. Although the mission seemed straightforward and certainly not anything out of the ordinary for any of the members of the team, there was a undisclosed detail. Broadband Noise was selected for this mission because the United Nations had not yet approved any military action and, in the eyes of US military leaders, the need for a discreet and guaranteed extermination of this potential threat was necessary.

The team was to kill the leader and escape with the secrets but, before they would escape, the United States Marine Corps were ordered to invade the camp killing any Khmer Rouge and the team. In this way, the US would be seen as legitimately stopping a renegade group of mercenaries who conveniently killed that pesky faction leader.

Sixteen hours after the mission, when both platoons of Marines were found dead, their bodies stacked on the Khmer Rouge corpses, the word that was repeated the most in the USMC war room was "underestimated".

If you can learn one thing from the United States Military, it is this, "Do not underestimate Broadband Noise!"

Broadband noise is another wicked band that I meet at fan wars. I was really blown away with there on stage presense they got everyone rockin'

Wes Walls is a Vancouver singer-songwriter who uses pop sensibilities and lyrical depth to create original rock music of powerful and passionate performance. Oasis- and John Mayer-inspired melodies mix with surging rhythm and energy of the likes of Coldplay and Travis. His upbeat and inspired performances are soulful and driven. Wes began songwriting as a search for the brighter sides of life, and his music breathes positivity and a sense of things that make life matter. The Joint Chiefs

Where pristine wilderness isolates unusual personalities, The Joint Chiefs were born. Best friends since the age of eight, this band is a brotherhood which none can put asunder. The Joint Chiefs meld speed, melody and groove to create a fluid, dynamic sound, reflective of their rugged industry town upbringing on Northern Vancouver Island.

The Joint Chiefs songs directly challenge the political situations faced by our society, such as prohibition, politically motivated violence or power greed. The Joint Chiefs instill a message of empowerment and activism through its lyrics, promoting dissention form a society ignoring the youth.

The debut release from The Joint Chiefs, “High & Mighty” is exciting and furious music highlighted by duelling, dynamic vocals with intelligent, articulate lyrics. The arrangements feature fast, filling percussion; prominent, growling bass and thick, intense riffery with mad leads.

“Question everything.” -Arlo, Bass/Vocals

“Educate your answers.” -Denton, Guitar/Vocals

“Where’s my wine?” -Wigs, Percussion

Pharmaceutical Solutions.
Cable & Print Media Conglomerates.
Factory Farming Techniques.
Stocks & Currency Markets.
Violent Peace Officers.
Religious Dogma.
Sheesh!

Growing up within the New World Order requires a sense of humour to remain sane! The Joint Chiefs performances are an extremely energetic and cathartic experience. Audience members are compelled to participate by means of unceasing head banging, hair swinging, booze swilling, funny banter and run-around madness by way of wireless guitar and bass rigs. When the Chiefs are on stage, it’s time to party!
The Joint Chiefs are Dentor - Guitar/Vocals, Roach - Bass/Vocals, Wigz - Percussion.
Our band name is a combination of the influences in our music: The intimidating face of modern warfare, represented by the Joint Chiefs of Staff. The unity of three young leaders confronting oppressors. The belief that marijuana should be decriminalized. And the story of three hockey goons from a mill town who go from zero to hero in one amazing season.

These guys I meet threw another band we know. They are some wicked boys who know how to rock n roll! Check them out at www.thejointchiefs.ca

The girl next door meets the devil that everybody pretends they dont know. With writing that is "...dramatic, dynamic, emotive, and unpredictable" (Gian Fiero - The Muse's Muse ), Dasha showcases her own style of modern day piano-centric rock in a very unforgettable way.

Dasha, a classically trained pianist, grew up listening to an unlikely mix of Rachmaninoff, Chopin, Pantera, Metallica, Tool, Faith no More and Guns n Roses. She wrote her first song when she was 13, received a
FACTOR
grant soon thereafter and currently spends most of her time on stage and in the studio with bands and as a solo artist.

Dasha spent just over a year with a Vancouver hard-rock band called
SoWhatNothing. Dasha was the core songwriter as well as singer and pianist in this original band. SoWhatNothing quickly received a lot of attention in a very short time. A few of their most notable accomplishments included receiving a full clothing sponsorship from MACHINE Clothing out of Toronto ON, playing 30+ live gigs in 9 months, touring to Toronto, receiving frequent radio play on Vancouver's rock giant 99.3 CFOX's Indie Night In Canada, playing twice Live On Air on CFOX (6 O'Clock Rock Report as well as on Indie Night In Canada), and playing live on local TV show Urban Rush
.

After gaining a great deal of experience and creating a bunch of new fans, Dasha opted to go solo and pursue the music that suited her most; a little bit of rock, a little bit of aggression, a little bit of hook and a whole lot of passion.

"Dasha's writing talent is immense and her potential for industry success is enormous...she is simply on another level. Both the music and publishing industries will strike gold when they get their hands on her catalogue. Congratulations on completing a project that is commercially strong, artistically developed, and musically sound." (Gian Fiero -
The Muse's Muse)

I meet Dasha threw myspace.com and got to interview the band as well. The interview will be played on our next show which is TBA. Check out www.dasha.ca for more info on the band!

Sugarblade was started in July 2004 when Miguel Staunton and Alec Brietzke first sat down together to jam out some songs. Both musicians had just come from broken bands, Miguel from "Faces of Eve" and Alec from "Junedog". Realizing that Sugarblade needed other musicians, Miguel and Alec set out to find a drummer and bass player. Recently coming out of a band herself, Maverick recording artist, "Lillix", Kim Urhahn seemed an ideal addition on drums. And soon after, Greg, a fellow "Junedog" band mate of Alec's, joined the trio on bass. Thus, completing the band. Sugarblade considers themselves a rock band with a hint of power-pop. Their sound has been compared to bands such as Stone Temple Pilots and The Foo Fighters with the vocal stylings of Morrissey and Peter Gabriel. The band is proud and flattered to be compared to such influential and widely respected artists. Sugarblade hopes to release their debut album in the spring of 2006 and in the meantime are looking forward to playing their music for as many people as they can.

I meet these guys threw myspace.com and then Alec introduced himself when i was at the kiss tribute. So after that I have been a fan and a friend to the band. I love there song faces, you should really check them out!

Mary Gunns

Wes Reckless - Philosophical Frontman

Kylan Prince - Drunk on Bass

Shaun Arthurs - Dude with Guitar

Corey Dancefloor Bryant - The man with rhythm

More metal than Gn’R, more laid-back than Megadeth, more Southern than Motley Crue, and more Northern than AC/DC, Mary’s Gunns pick up where the 80’s heavyweights left off and scream new life into classic rock. Their music is in no way just a retro trend or merely derivative, it is instead a continuation, expansion and addition to a balls-to-the-wall rock and roll tradition.

Jamming together since childhood in their hometown of White Rock, Wes Sheppard, Kylan Prince and Corey Bryant weren’t truly Mary’s Gunns until they added Shaun Arthurs to the line-up in 2005. As the bastard sons of Axl and Slash, Steve and Joe, Ozzy and Tony, Angus and Bon, Page and Plant, their sound is deeply rooted in the music they grew up banging their heads to.

They took that sound to Vancouver stages as soon as their fake IDs could get them through the bar door. Their active gigging schedule of 2006 topped out at over 30 shows. And their notoriety grew when the band swept every level of BC Fan Wars, culminating in a landslide victory for the Gunns and a marathon hour and a half encore demanded by legions of rock-crazed fans. They are currently working on their first album in White Rock’s Rock Beach Studio and plan to follow up the release with tours to the East and the South.

Their straight-up, blues influenced, guitar forward rock anthems would be perfectly comfortable on any classic rock station. However, with slick riffs that are a step ahead of the game and more than one sonic trick up their tattooed sleeves, they refuse to settle into the comfort of genre and push through any boundary that crosses their path. Consistently diverse and dynamically easygoing, Mary’s Gunns make complexity look simple and simply rock.

So, for our bio i decided to use a pregnancy metaphor. the story of the birth of Alien Nation goes way back to the days of 2003. Where 2 unwitting lads by the names of Bryan Harder and Kyle Jones picked up their instruments in an almost sexual act. Little did they know they had inadvertently inseminated and had began the concieval of Alien Nation. Bryan and Kyle went on to form the band Eather with friends Josh Demmerson and Ozzie. Eventually that band disbanded, so to speak, but although it might have seemed like a near punch in the proverbial stomach, the two lads reformed again as the band aptly titled 'A Days End' with Ozzy and Matt Genereaux, that band however disbanded, but it did not mean the end. Kyle and Bryan formed the joke band 'Sneaky Sam' with Josh Demmerson to play green day style punk. Of course Green Day punk gets dull and monotonous after awhile. Enter Tristan. a disenfranchised young lad who was at the time playing bass for the audio abomination Stereovation. Little did most folks know he could play the guitar. So Bryan and Kyle asked him to play lead and sing, much to Joshes Dismay. This was the final force that would push that tiny audiosperm into the womb. Sneaky Sam completely changed their style, and josh got angry. so he left. Then Pavel joined, then he moved to Corn Country. then for a while, our majestic little fetus didnt do much. Then our dear friend Cam joined. He has been the only guitarist to be able to stand being in the same band with us for more than a month. However, after exceeding the shelf life of the other rhythm guitarists. trouble brewed, proving many a punch in the stomach to our small growing alien baby. Finally Cam spazzed and left. And then there were 3. Realizing that we had to stop letting our disgusting Alien baby waste away, we bucked up, started writing decent songs and preparing for the Nations inevitable apocalyptic birth. And now, as the Merch is being made, the EP is nearing completion, our 9 month wait is over, and we now await the worlds most rawkin delivery ever. the infancy shall rock everyones faces clean off. Will it be a straight out normal pregnancy? will it be a stillborn? will it be a C section? will we ask for drugs? who knows! All thats for certain is that we're happy to be blessed with this type of baby. cause we can still drink and smoke.

Bryan Harder- Bass
Kyle Jones- Drummer

Vodas

From the edge of the valley to the Vancouver shores, VODAS is a growing musical phenomenon and to their growing groups of devoted fans, the party begins when VODAS arrives.

This four piece power house began with guitarist & singer Iain Mccomb, and drummer Ryan Rakose, jamming out some chunky and edgy grooves in Iain's basement. With their strong musical connection, they realized they needed to find a bass player, that could match their powerful, agressive sound. As fate would have it, they met their match Brendon Brady, thru a mutual friend. Bradys thick rythmatic growl was a perfect fit to Iains chunky guitar playing & edgy vocals and Ryans in-the-pocket groove. VODAS was born.

Spurred on by their fans demand for recordings of their original tunes, VODAS wrote and recorded a 5 track EP Better Things To Do which they are curently sold out of.

Thru fine tuning their writing in the studio, VODAS focused on both melodic and grinding guitars and decided to add a fourth member to compliment their developing musical style. Guitarist Tyson Garner was added as the fourth member to bring a further punch to the bands original sound.

Since then VODAS has performed their own style of melodic edgy provocative rock and are pounding out their sound, playing everything from All-Ages shows to Rock Benefits supporting local causes. The bands website is a frequent stop for local fans who are eager to find out details on the next show. VODAS is a force that grips the audience, commands their attention and keeps them coming back for more.

So i meet these guys off myspace too and I love there song better things to do. Im sure weve all ben there. Anyways hear these guys at myspace.com/vodas cause they kick your ass, but youll want to keep comming back from more and more! Contact them at www.vodasmusic.com

The Rudies are a Calgary based band the has been described as "Desperado Rock", "Indie Punk", or just straight up "Rock and Roll". A four piece group consisting of James Houston(Lead vocals/Rhythem guitar), Rory McKellar(Lead Guitar), Graham Baker(Bass/Backing vocals), and Ryan Bohnet(Drums) that has been in the scene for about 3 years now playing venues ranging from Weeds Cafe to Mac Hall, The Castle to Broken City and most places in between. Influences include The Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Beatles, The Strokes, Radiohead, and The Clash. So far The Rudies have one recording to their name entitled "To Bad, So Sad, Jihad" with 5 tracks on said recording. To truely experience the unique sound of The Rudies you would have to attend one of their live shows. This hard hitting melodic sound is greatly complimented by the bands tight chemistry, full use of the stage (no matter how small it may be), and also, they rarely wear shirts. So download a track or two and learn all the words, come to our next gig and dance your asses off! Unless of course you don't like loud music, partying, or dancing.. Then coming to a show would be a bad idea...

I meet these guys threw the buffalo club as we hosted a show there and they guys were  awsome!

There a great group of guys to represent Alberta as they know how to rock and get there fans dancing! Its true what they say you should go to a show and see them live! The best thing I like about these guys is the energy they have. Also at the end of there show,James introduced the band and then he also went off the stage and started clapping.

I had alot of apperation for them after I saw that, it was something totally differnt and unexpected. Im glad to see when band members apperiate eachother. By the way they do killer Johnny Cash covers as well. These boys rock out and I hope you'll check them out!

Combining 60’s pop and country with the ambient vocal structures of 90’s avant garde, The Shine On manage to inject a sense of both claustrophobia and open spaces into their music and in doing so they've run their brand of arty confusion through a 60’s pop filter. They shoot with a punchy brand of rock'n'roll full of the energy and vitality of life, classic in it’s delivery but ultimately a product of the modern world. Endebted to Bruce Springsteen as much as Radiohead, they create a breezy and brainy ambience that the listener won't soon forget.

Vancouver, BC’s The Shine On began in fledging forms in the winter of 2003 as a new beginning and new identity for singer/songwriter Geoff Nilson. After wadding through many different bands and styles he struck out on his own to form a voice that he could present to the world. He wanted to conect with the musical monoliths passed on to him by his parents. Neil Young, The Beatles, Phil Spector. But he would put a twist on his old favourites. Born on Vancouver Island but raised in the beautifully bland yet always bustling Surrey, BC, his location at the border between rural and suburban played a significant role in the formation of his sound, bending the traditional sounds and structures of pop music to reflect his more atmospheric view of life.

With the addition of Martin Danyluk (guitar/keyboard/backing vocals), Ben Musaev (bass) and Brad Danyluk (drums/percussion) The Shine On moves forward, excited to showcase their brand of indie pop. The Shine On's debut ep, Young Flyers, was released on Broken Oak Records in the fall of 2005.

"Just when it seems like Ryan Adams and Wilco are getting boring (say it ain't so!), along comes The Shine On - a shamelessly talented band led by a shamelessly talented songwriter. The Shine On's Young Flyers EP is remarkably well-titled - 4 fresh, heartfelt songs with enough twang and introspection to satisfy the critics, but thankfully lacking the "drivin'-n'-cryin' " adages that have become all too commonplace in modern alt-country. In a world of wishy-washy, allegedly talented singer-songwriters choking the countries play-lists, The Shine On's debut is a welcome gasp of authentic bar-room air."
-Scott McCord, 100.3 The Bear, Edmonton, Alberta

I meet these guys threw myspace.com and they kick ass, cant wait to see these guys live!!!contact these guys at www.theshineon.com

Steve and Aniko Mathieson have formed a new canadian band called
s.a.m. (s - steve, a - aniko, m - mathieson). Steve's band s.a.m. was formed to showcase his original music from his independently recorded and produced EP CD titled - WHEN THE NIGHT COMES

Last summer Steve participated and performed in The Cates Park Summer Concert Series and had one of his songs included on a compilation CD that was produced by MUSART to help raise funds for Cancer research.
We really enjoyed networking, meeting new people and being able to help raise funds and awareness for such a worthy cause.

I saw this inspiring couple at Trees cafe and John recommended our show to them, so then they contacted me. I am so glad they did. With there rocking sounds and seeing them togather, it just makes you wish you could be like them.

Westcoast thunderous hook laden riffs and high octane 3 part harmonies, RAW sets themselves apart from every other group in the music industry today 3 Below & Jam Factory artists RAW began their career in 1994. The lively animated performance of RAW has captivated audiences of all ages and has led the group to the attention of major concert performers and music festival organizers. Determination, talent and cooperation: the three traits any band must possess above all others; the determination to better their efforts, a wealth of talent and cooperation to support these efforts. Based out of Maple Ridge, British Columbia, Solace has crafted their own style and solidified their position as a definite favorite among fans. In September 2004, founding members Camille Szpic (guitar), Joseph Harvey (guitar), Ryan Ewanchuk (drums), and Ryan Murchie (bass) began writing original songs that were categorically rock. However, their original efforts were lacking the raw intensity and hunger each member felt, and the decision for a more redefined, primal sound was reached. As the bands attitude shifted, so did their perception of how their vocalist should sound. Once again, abandoning the staple of general rock, the search for an aggressive yet emotionally charged voice began January 2005, enter Josh Hyde. At last Solace had found completion. The blazing guitar harmonies, driving bass and powerful drumming had found the raw, shredding voice absent from past attempts. Experimenting with an additional second vocalist for brief time provided insight as to which extremities the band was willing to venture to musically. By summers end, all issues involving the bands vocals had been resolved, and Solace had a firm grasp on how they would mould their sound and gain a massive following. In the months that have passed, Solace has recorded one E.P Primitive, and experienced the rush of professionally recording a single. As an evolving and resilient aggressive metal band, Solace is blazing ahead and prepared to Take No Prisoners.

Just a short time ago, four boys from Surrey, British Columbia, deciding it was time that Surrey be known for more than cheap ladies-of-the-night and underwhelming employment rates, got together with a single purpose in mind: to bring the rock the seething masses. Naming themselves ViV SAVAGE, they immediately went to work to accomplish this goal, successfully attracting large crowds from the first time they hit the stage. Artfully combining unbridled power with sing-along melodies, ViV SAVAGE easily ignites the stage (sometimes literally) with infectious exuberance and boundless enthusiasm. This, combined with carefully-honed and finely-tuned musicianship, results in a satisfying treat for the tympanic membrane. ViV SAVAGE attracts attention every time they hit the stage, and are now working with several Vancouver-area promoters in order to free the minds of those who happen to hear them. Sometimes they smell good, sometimes they are seen with cool people. Whatever the case may be, they are always entertaining, and are one of the friendliest bands to hit a market in which pretentiousness and arrogance seem to prevail. Adopting the slogan of their namesake from the movie Spinal Tap, ViV SAVAGE seeks to have a good time, all the time, and involve their rabid fans every step of the way. With the release of their self-titled EP in March, 2006, there seems to be nothing stopping them. Meet your new best friend: ViV SAVAGE.

I meet these guys at another Mass Undergoe gig, but I can't remember the date just that it was at the Red Room. I really loved there performance and there song"Three Cheers"I contacted them threw myspace. Phil(the drummer) remembered me from the gig and they have been listed with our show since. Check these guys out they rock, I give them "Three Cheers!"

In Davey's Grip

In Davey's Grip was started in late 2004 when accomplished rock drummer, Kim Urhahn, decided to pick up a guitar and explore her desire to pen a few tunes. Having enlisted the help of some musician friends, a demo/EP was recorded at The Hive Studios in Burnaby BC in 2005. Eager to take her project to the next level, Kim began a steady rehersal schedule and began pursuing local promoters to showcase the band to a live audience. Unfortunately, due to scheduling and commitment problems, the band soon lost their original members one by one, bringing the project to a standstill. Kim turned to friends for help once again, and before long, bassist Gregory M. asked to join realizing the music and vibe was exactly what he was looking for. Soon after, R answered Kim's ad and joined the band on drums. The rhythm section developed an instant chemistry and have come to be known simply as the "machine gun" due to their all out assault behind the vocals and guitar. Unfortunately, the search for a permanent guitarist dragged on for months threatening the future of the project once again. Finally, local rockgod, Andrew West, caught the band's show one night and upon hearing that they needed a guitar player asked if he could come out and jam. He came out. He rocked hard. He was in the band. Andrew brought a much-needed dynamic to the band, as his blues-influenced lead-guitar lines added new life to the band's sound. With a rock-solid line-up the band is finally enjoying steady sales of their EP, consistant offers for live shows, and is gaining a loyal following.

In Davey's Group contacted me just before we interviewed Sugerblade on Sept.11th 2006.
Kim and Gregory are both in Sugerblade and IDG, so we are happy to have there other band with us.
