After Info on each band and how they were apart of our show and how we meet.
Three years of being "Local Band Knight" we've had so many bands on our list who have helped us out too. Even though we are now Locals we still love our bands just as much as before and are always looking for more. This is a short list and more bio's will be posted soon.
Our Second band we ever interivewed...
Shocore
Formed out of the ashes of two Vancouver bands, Shocore was the brainchild of both Terry Murrary and Cory White, former lead singer of DDT. In 2000, the pair decided to form their own group and set about recording almost 30 songs. The band’s first single was released in summer 2001, which received lots of air play in Canada and the states. Shocore’s music is also available on some video games. Shocores newest album is Evilution and you can find more info on the band at www. shocore.org
Shocore was the second band I interviewed, on the road thanks to New Music West. Cory was fun to talk with and I liked chilling with them at there studio, which happened to be at the same place where Operation Makeout’s studio was. Cory and Terry are the type of guys who really show that “you can’t kill rock n’ roll.”
Nim Vind
Songs of love, Illusion, Bizarre, and the Unknown are what Nim Vind is. The name means freedom by a lack of awareness or regard for rules or regulations, for authority, for social codes or ethics, and any other label, word or method that attempts to hold back or limit. Nim Vind is its own style. Nim Vind is whatever it wants to be. Nim Vind was born of ashes of Mr.Underhill. Nim Vind moonlights in a Vincent Black Shadow. Nim Vind loves Elvis. Nim Vind is a headless horseman's wild black heart on fire. Check out nim vind for more info on the band.
To find out more check out www.nimvind.net
I meet Nim Vind when they were still called Mr. Underhill. We did an interview with them on boxing day which had to be the most coolest and funnest interview that I ever did. Now Nim was expose to be a guest, but ended up co-hosting along with me asking questions to his bros and and taking over the mic when he needed too.
My operator at the time was late, so we started the show with Robbie K, Nim and I all sharing one microphone, interivewing and operating the board at the same time. It was so fun and lucky for me, Nim was awsome enough to help out with some questions while people called in including there drunken brother, who was a riot over the phone. I'm glad he called. Than as my operator finally got there we moved over to a big room and everything went rocking'! It went, so well that I tried to kindnapp, Nim and make him my co-host. Unfortunally, I haven't been able to get that chance as he's a busy guy, but you can be sure to look forward to having Nim back at the station hanging out with us. Thanks guys for your patients and rocking out with us, we luv ya!!!
xoxo
Even though you're not officaly my co-host Nim, you will always be to me. Don't frget you're always welcome back whenever you want.

Marianas Trench
Marianas Trech is made up of : Josh Ramsay - vox, guitar Matt Webb - guitar, keyboard, vox Mike Ayley - bass, vox Ian Casselman - drums. We haven't had the chance to put them on the show because they have been so buzy, but we've been playing them lots. Check out there sitehttp://www.marianastrench.net/
for more info on the band.
Marianas Trench was really one of the bands that gave me this idea for the show. It's all because Ian Casselman is like a cousin to me. My mom grew up with his parents and so we've know eachother since we were little, when he was into drumming and everything, so support Ian, He rocks!

Congradulaions to M.T they just got singed onto 604 records!

Mass Undergoe
Mass Undergoe is the greatest band of all time, other than the bands who are clearly better. Our goal is to make music that is genre-less, (clearly not a word) timeless, and boundless. We wish to connect with you on your own terms, not ours. We have influences too lengthy to list, and are close, like brothers. Let's get to the mutton (why did I just say mutton?) of the BIO: Mass Undergoe met in high school, had some lineup changes, released "Emotion Has A Thousand Sons" in 2001, recieved a Videofact Grant (CHA-CHING!) for the lead single "Lost Vacancy," and recieved medium rotation for months on the strength of touring and requests alone. Hooray for us. Then there was a lineup change, an accoustic EP in 2003 that featured renowned Canadian Gaye Delorme as a guest performer on the single " I Need You." More touring, more radio, more press, bigger egos. You dig it. That brings us to now. More or less. Brandon Lazenby on Drums, Marino Mestrovic on Bass, Alan Calimbas on Guitar, and David Isbister on Vocals comprise Mass Undergoe today. We are all pretty certain if there is another lineup change, we will pack it in. Not because we are quitters, but because we are awesome now. Not arrogant awesome, though... the kind of awesome where you know everything is right. Like a marriage, but to four dudes. I think that is legal in Canada anyway. We have new music, a new EP, and a renewed spirit. We are in the process of recording perpetually, as we have cemented our writing process and are able to churn out formulaic, mindless tunes with reckless abandon. And by formulaic and mindless, we mean dynamic and thoughtful. Mass Undergoe is heading back out on tour again soon, so watch for us. Not literally, silly. Look on this account or something. In all seriousness, we dedicate ourselves to this often frustrating and manipulative endeavour because all we want to do is play. For you. So help us do that if the spirit moves you to...otherwise, thanks for trying us out, and check back. We are bound to sell out and write something as shitty as Creed.Check them out at www.massundergoe.ca or www.myspace.com/massundergoe

My friend Michelle, me and Mass Undergoe!
Buring Borders

From the embers of high-caliber local Vancouver projects comes a new, explosive band known as Burning Borders. It all started in late summer of 2005 when Brian Reed (vocals) left well-known Surrey band Syfin, and called Justin Griffiths (lead guitar) to start a new project. Chris Brams (rhythm guitar), who had just left 2005 Vancouver Seeds finalist Elixir, then got a call from Brian, and the three met and started collaborating ideas. All three had the same goal in mind: to write music with the idea of having no boundaries; substance over style.
After recording pre-production at Audiovisions studios, Rally car/studio drummer Levi Catroppa entered the scene. The four got together three times a week, writing and perfecting songs, even without a bass player. Levi mentioned shortly after that his cousin was a bass player, so he brought out Kevin Catroppa. As soon as Kevin joined in early January of 2006, it was immediately apparent that he was a perfect match. The lineup was now complete!Since then, Burning Borders has hammered out over 15 tracks, 11 of which have been recorded at Ear Art Studios by highly-renowned producer Tim Neuhaus. These 11 songs will make up the debut LP, which is slotted for a late 2006 release. When writing lyrics, Brian tries to stay away from the cliche topics, such as girls, death, etc. "I try to write lyrics that have more to deal with everyday life, rather than just focusing in on all the negatives that surround us," Brian says. This approach has brought great reviews. Currently, Lose Control is topping the Alternative Metal charts on GarageBand.com.
Having said all that, it really doesn't matter where we are from, or who we have played for. All that really matters now is how much a Burning Borders concert rocks! Every show is a beer-fueled rockfest full of high octane energy and pinpoint percision. Look for these guys to be burning up a stage near you.Check them out at www.buringborders.com or www.myspace.com/buringbordersmusic
So I became a fan of Buring Borders when I came across them on myspace.com Than I meet them at a Mass Undergoe gig on Nov.18th and fell in love with them right away. It's funny though because it turns out that Levi is the drummer from one of the bands we were looking for, Blunt. So i found out finally what happend to them. It's great though cause now we have Buring Borders apart of Locals, so we still have Levi with us. So check them out because they are my new favorite local band and they kick ass!!!!

Flashlight Brown
United by boredom and a natural frustration towards the politically correct thought-police of a small college town, Fil, Matt, Mike and Tim decided to makes some noise. Their earliest efforts may have lacked order, but it made up for itself by blindly offending the group's scholarly peers.
Flashlight Brown soon moved to the big city of
Survival on no-frills road trips meant sleeping on floors, cooking canned food on the engine block and begging for beers after shows.
The more Flashlight Brown toured, the more they lived to tour. Their performances tightened, their songwriting deepened; the road gave them a chance to hone their talents and to live and thrive as a unit. The four best friends who had spent the majority of their lives on the outside looking in began to click with an audience who felt very much the same way.
This past summer proved to be a major transformation for Flashlight Brown. "We were about halfway through our first tour of the season when we get a call that Rob Cavallo (Green Day, Alanis Morissette, Goo Goo Dolls) wanted to record 2 songs with us."
The band was flat broke and sleeping in a parking lot in
Two songs quickly turned into a full album as Cavallo fell in love with the band and their music. "Working with Rob was unbelievable. I remember sitting in the studio with him and every once and a while I'd wonder 'why the hell is this guy working on OUR music??'"
The result of this last minute alliance is My Degeneration, a culmination of a 6 year career of living on the edge between a dream and despair. Fueled by the energy of punk, the power of the great guitar bands, the irreverence of the Simpsons and the surprisingly profound, this album reaches out to everyone who's ever struggled to find their place in a world of borders and cliques.
From the driving anthem Ready to Roll to the sweet melodies of Patricia, My Degeneration proves that Flashlight Brown has one priority: to give service to the music they love. "We think there's room for songs that give an honest portrait of what's going on in someone's head regardless of the outside reaction."
Devoid of pretensions and compromise, My Degeneration is a time capsule and a frank diary, full of the sordid details and the bitter perspective of a group of friends who formed their own gang to avoid rejection from someone else's.
Flashlight Brown's music is real. It comes from the same place that all great rock and roll originates; the clubs, legion halls and basements of real music fans. In a day and age when radio is cluttered with manufactured groups and generic studio rock bands, Flashlight Brown gives homage to a better time, while still pushing music forward.
I meet Flashlight brown by surprized at a SUM 41 concert by chance. I actually meet Tim (the drummer) outside while we were both smoking. I asked him about getting permission to play there cd on the show. I was happy that he let me. After that I e-mailed the band and a couple of months later as they came to town, I got to interview them before a show they did. As the show was still new, and so I was ,I was very nervous and exited to be able to interview a signed band. So this was a highlight in my carrer and life. We still play the interview and there music as well. I hope you check out there website at www.flashlightbrown.com
Cabin one

Born from the ashes of Vancouver band “The Heat”, brothers Bruce and Keith Walkinshaw along with Bojen Bugarinovic, recruited a new rhythm section of Mark Dennis and Derek Gallagher to form Cabin One. Playing mostly original songs, Cabin One strives to create a blend of straight ahead rock and roll and classic punk. When asked to describe there sound, the usual response is homage to their heroes: “The Clash meets Oasis in bar owned by Keith Richards.” Despite their British rock influences, however, Cabin One are a distinctly Canadian band. With songs such as “Far”, a rocking tribute to Canadian hero Terry Fox, or “Buried” which borrows from a Coast Salish traditional love tale, song-writer Bruce Walkinshaw names Canadian giants such as Leonard Cohen and Gordon Downie as his biggest lyrical influences. As 2007 approaches Cabin One look forward to the release of there first eight song EP, “CABIN ONE: The Demo EP” and to a spring tour of Western Canada. I meet Cabin One threw my sister's boyfriend, Ryan. He has been friends with Bruce before the band started. Bruce has always been kinda like a big bro to me too, so its great to see that they have finally gotten things started. Check these boys out!!I'm sure they'll be a hit soon expecially with there catchy songs, "The Bricks"and "The Gallery.
Mecha Messiah

They put on a successful show May 24, 200
Mecha Messiah is a unique metal band hailing from Delta, British Colombia. Mecha Messiah combines a variety of musical interests that combine to create a unique brand of metal. No, there will be no rap/metal fusions which are all too commonplace these days. Their style is undeniably heavy metal, but it’s hard to pinpoint into one specific genre. Mecha is not thrashing, death or black, nor are they hardcore, punk, rap/metal or mainstream. Mecha Messiah is Mecha Messiah. Simple as that. Mecha Messiah formed in early 2000. It is the brainchild of Brian Langley, who wanted to create music that was accessible, yet not standard pop-rock/metal flair. So he joined a yet unnamed band in early 1999. He quickly took over, as the other band members could not decide what they were exactly doing. Two of the band members left to pursue other interests, which left the two members that would form Mecha Messiah. The original two members were Brian Langley (lead vocals and guitar) and Jeff Greig (bass). Needing a line-up for an upcoming event dubbed Adamstock v.2 at

Crop Circle
Crop circle was formed in 1997 when Tsean Miller and Brian Garbet began getting togather with acoustic guitars to jam on songs by their favorite bands. Bassist, Mike Robertson came on board later as the next piece in the puzzle. The repertorie of songs and began gigging as a cover band. However, the long-term ambitions of the band were always to be composing orginal music. Today: At this point, it became clear that Crop circle was to be about friends, good music and having fun. With that in mind, long time friend Ben Darbey was a natural to provide the drums and complete the circle. As of 2002, crop circle has ceased performing in the cover scene and devoted itself entirely to original music. As for the sound.... Crop Circle wanted to have the flexibility of musical styles such as bands like Queen, the Beatles and Led Zeppelin. Acoustic music has always been important to the band but so too is a heavy edge and energy. There are two distinct sides to Crop Circle's music, one is purely for entertainment's sake, while the other is about a variety of political and social issues. Crop Circle have come clean and now confess to being responsible for the world's crop circle phenomenon. They were on our show:Crop Circle (Live inter.) June 6th 2002,

Hector

Playing the raunchiest bass this side of Motorhead's Lemmy Kilmister with a voice to match, Andréa Hector A.K.A. HECTOR is making a big noise with the CD Bitch, Bitch, Bitch. HECTOR is a Canadian duo consisting of bassist HECTOR and drummer Darryl R. Shackelly. The duo began collaborating in 1999 on a four track, the same year Andréa was short listed for a rotation in Courtney Love's group Hole. After success with their CD Destructika, including a featuring track on the video game "Steer Madness", the duo recorded Bitch, Bitch, Bitch, in February 2004, which combines pop/rock sensibilities along with additional programmed electronic effects. In the meantime, the duo is in the process of writing new material and actively searching out international label interest and radio airplay world wide.
We have a tape recorded live interview that will be aired on our next show, Feb.7th 2006. Don't miss it! We meet them threw myspace.com and I hung out with them eating sushi and doing an interview while we drove threw the city. It was a blast! Thanks guys!
Check out www.hector.ca for more info!

Formed in Vancouver, Canada by songwriters Cindy Tomlinson (vocals) and Ted Koppman (guitars), their debut CD "Tomorrow's Yesterday" sold out two pressings to rave reviews: "The band's musical structure comes to life with streaming, fuzzed chord riffs, meandering basslines, crashing cymbals, and the refined use of a classic cello sound... The songs possess an integrity that would seem to withstand time and exhibit proficiency toward composure that immediately sets the band apart from the rest." ~ Audiogalaxy
Orchards & Vines are currently in the studio recording songs for a forthcoming CD, due for release next year — stay tuned

Red Elivses
Ok so these guys aren’t Canadian, but we love them! When we first started the show, we didn’t have to many cds. So as I meet them in 1999, on the Vicki Gaberal show, I later meet the sexy drummer, Avi Sills. He then gave me a copy of there cd “Better then sex” and then I bought a few as well. Afterwards, Avi left the band and as I got caught up with the show I almost forgot about them, but still played there music.
There music is a witty, funny rock n roll style that we love and hope you do too.
Orginally formed by Igor Yuzov and Oleg Bernov.
In 2004 Red Elvises once again reinvented themselves when the original bandmates Igor and Oleg added three new members. They were American-of-Ukranian-descent Roman Dudok on saxophone and flute, American drum virtuouso Craig Pilo and a new Russian, Alex (nicknamed Sasha), on keyboards. The band began their year by releasing their 11th CD (10 studio, 1 live), Lunatics and Poets on April 3rd. It is completely in English and reflects their musical integrity and growth, with a southern California rock ‘n’ roll sound mixed with a sound more reminiscent of their Russian roots. They also kicked off the first leg of their Lunatics and Poets tour in April and booked a heavy tour schedule for the year that includes a trip to Russia in August.
I meet them at a taping of Vicki Gabereau, way before my radio show began. I was such a big fan, I even went to Seattle to see them and yet the following week they came here. Avi Sills (ex-drummer) gave me there better then sex cd after a gig. Well when our first show started, we didn't have to many cds so we played my Red Elvises collection threw out the show too. (I had more than the one cd.) We haven't had them on a show yet, but we're hoping for it. For now we just play there rocking tunes. Check out www.redelvises.com for more info on them

Contraband
Contraband consists of Marc on vocals, Dan on guitar/backup vocals, Matt "The Laser," on drums, Taylor as lead guitarist/shredder, and Mike with the kickass bass lines. Contraband was called "No hope for anyone," but scrapped that idea when they played a show with a band called "A New Hope."
The name Contraband arrived when playing a Cannabis Day gig for David Malmo Levine. It has stuck. It is also quite fitting, for their music is an epitome of the definition of the word "Contraband," a substance whose trade or reproduction is prohibited.
Contraband started on a chance meeting at two GM Place workers, whose paths crossed and musical tastes collided. Dan met Mike, and was introduced to Mike's brother Marc, then history was made. Marc sang, Mike ripped up the bass, Dan wielded the axe and the original core of Contraband was realised. Matt was added later, and Taylor brought a lead guitar to the mix when asked by Dan, who had previously played in bands with him before.
Contraband has played shows with many other bands, and continues to play more with bands of higher profiles, now making their own mark in the Vancouver Indie Music scene.
I meet Contraband at a Mass Undergoe concert and was totally blown away! Everytime you se them you'll just want to mosh with them! Check them out at www.contrasite.com or www.myspace.com/contrabandrocks2005
Contraband was on our Mar.6th 2006 show

Incura
The band formed late 2004 with the mind set to create an individual musical art form, open minds, and push the musical envelope. No "one" sound can describe the creature that is now Incura. They take origianl lyrics, percussion, riffs, melodies, and create songs . . . songs that create a musical journey like no other . . . a journey you won’t be disappointed with.
I meet Incura threw Garage Entertainment and was thrilled to get them on my show. They were on our show Mar.6th, check out the photos and they’ll be back on our next show on Apr.3rd. Check out www.incura.net for more info!

Shiver
If you live in
Shiver has become renowned for being one of the hardest working, and most consistantly impressive bands in
For the last 3 years, Shiver has been touring across the Lower Mainland of BC in support of their first independant release: "You Can't Kill What You Can't Find", a 6 song EP produced solely by the band. The release sparked the interest of numerous commercial labels but the band, sworn independant as always, still remains to be the crown jewel of Pedwell (vocals) independant record label Open Box Entertainment.
2005 saw Shiver gain commercial radio success with single ‘Restitution’ which can be requested on major and college radio stations across the country, a video is not far behind.
Shiver has recently released their new effort, sharing the album duties with Pedwell (vocals) solo project, in a spllit album aptly titled ‘The Fear’. Shiver is currently touring in support of this release and can be found drinking in a park near you.
Another band I meet threw Garage Entertainment and some other bands as well.
They were in on our show live Apr.3rd 2006.
